Obituary of George J Dorman

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George J. Dorman Sr. "Bud" age 73 of Glenolden passed away peacefully on May 27, 2021 at home, surrounded by his family. Bud was a 1965 graduate of Clifton Heights High School. He was a proud US Army Veteran stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War time and was honorably discharged in 1968. Bud retired from Acme Markets as a produce manager, where he worked for over 30 years. Throughout the years, Bud loved nothing more than being on a beach, being down the Glenolden Pool, camping with his family or even heading out for a last-minute road trip in "the van" taking him all over God's creation for hockey games with his son, David. For many years, Bud would also find time to coach all three of his kid's sports, usually while on his lunch break from 2nd shift. Bud was known to be quite the dancing machine all around town, accompanied by his wife. They also enjoyed taking trips to Lancaster together where they would often times drive around on roads they'd never been on, just to see what they could find. Bebop loved taking the grandkids to Lancaster with them as well for an overnight adventure. The Dorman household was never dull with him around. Nothing ever stopped him from pulling a good prank and having a good laugh. Bud was known to his children as the Hide & Seek Champion, especially in the snow! Somehow, all bundled up in his Army camo jacket, he could perfectly blend in with the telephone poll atop the Glenolden Park hill and would patiently wait until everyone gave up looking and quit the game. Also, he had the super-power of locating lost items, no matter how big or small. Dedicated to his community, Bud was formerly involved with the Glenolden 4th of July Committee, Glenolden Centennial Committee, the Cub Scouts Pack 44 and the majority leader for the Republican Committee in Glenolden. Bud loved his family with every ounce of his being. Family was most important to him. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them any chance he could. He took his roll of being "Bebop" very seriously and with great pride. He is predeceased by his son George J. Dorman II and by his parents, George and Madeline Dorman. Survivors: Beloved husband of 50 years to Dorothy E. Dorman, "Dottie", loving father of Linda M. Dorman and David (Danielle) Dorman, cherished BeBop to Joshua, Brianna, Kyle, Hunter, Colin, Caitlyn, Carmine and Abigail, dear brother of Diane (Ed ) Smith, loving nephew of Molly DiCecco and many cousins and in-laws. Viewing: Thursday June 3, 2021 from 5-8pm and Friday, June 4, 2021 from 10-11am. Both viewings are being held at the funeral home.
