Obituary of Dorothy H. Horne

Dorothy Helen Horne (nee Reichwein), age 87, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Sun City Center Hospice House. Dorothy was born December 21, 1934 in Ashland, PA to the late Raymond and Dorothy Reichwein. She was one of 10 siblings: Lamar, Betty, Ruth, Harold, Paul, Ed, Nancy, Patsy, and Raymond, 5 preceded her in death. Dorothy was married to the late Eli Harold Horne in 1957. Two children were born in this union, Janice Mahoney and Donna Valver (Joe Valver). Her and Eli resided in South West Philadelphia until 1999 when they relocated to Sun City Center, Florida. Dorothy enjoyed her days playing poker and pinochle, spending her Sundays attending church, fishing, penny slots at the casino and clipping coupons. She was not often seen without her phone in her hand while playing solitaire. She also enjoyed spending her summers with her family at the beach. Along with her daughters, she leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Jennifer (Fran), Jason, Amanda, Kyla, Joseph (Laura), Chris (Larissa), and Greg(Tiffany), as well as 6 great grandchildren: Eliana, Lucas, Wyatt, Jordyn, Lily, and Savanna. Dorothy was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Family, friends, and those whose lives Dorothy touched are invited to attend a funeral mass at 10:30AM on Saturday 4/2 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood PA. Visitation: 9:15-10:30AM on Saturday at church prior to mass.
