Obituary of Catherine E. Koch

Catherine Eleanor Koch (nee Cunningham) deceased July 29, 2022 Resident of Granite Farms Estates, Media, Delaware County, PA Wife of Franklin J. Koch, to whom she was married in 1951 and preceded her in passing July 2019. Mrs. Koch was born in Clifton Heights to Eleanor and O. Lee Cunningham in January 1932. She was graduated from Sharon Hill High School in 1949 and began employment with the Bell Telephone Company. She later was employed by the Sun Oil Company in Philadelphia where she worked in a secretarial capacity until 1954. She also worked in real estate sales until she retired. Mrs. Koch was a devoted mother of three children, all of whom were born and raised when she was a resident of Sharon Hill. She took joy in ensuring a family dinner together each night, and was known for her baked beans and potato salad. As a seamstress, she made clothing for family members AND their dolls. She excelled in nurturing and supporting her family in her role of as a wife, mother and grandmother. Catherine was a loving, tender grandmother to five grandchildren who brought her great joy. She will be remembered by her grandchildren for her warm heart and gentle touch. She was an active member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, Folcroft and, later in life, Reformation Lutheran Church, Media. Survivors are her daughter, Susan Schu of Media; her son, Paul Koch and his wife Kathleen of Chadds Ford; her daughter, Laurie Rostock and her husband Joseph of Davidsonville, MD.; and five grandchildren. Services to be held at Reformation Lutheran Church, 102 West Rosetree Road, Media, PA 19063 on Monday, August 8, 2022. Viewing at 10:00 a.m. followed by service at 11:00 a.m. Internment at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine's name may be made to Acts Signature Hospice, 1936 West Point Pike, West Point, PA 19486.
