Obituary of Peter A Gutowski

Peter Alan Gutowski age 80 of Briarcliffe Glenolden, Pennsylvania passed away on April 8, 2024 at Taylor Hospital, peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Born on February 20, 1944 in Queens New York, Peter was a beloved son, brother, partner, father, and friend. Throughout his life he touched the heart of others by sharing his love of music, food, and fishing with family and friends. Peter led a life filled with passion, purpose, and service. Music was his passion and first love. Growing up in New York, he was the lead vocalist in the Brooklyn Diocesan Chorus. He later grew into a talented musician in which he played drums and sang vocals in The Vacels, The Shaggy Boys, and Supa Heat, opening and headlining in shows that included Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen. He lived and shared his talents in the music industry for nearly 35 years. After putting the drumsticks down, Peter picked up his electrical tools and became a self-employed master electrician for 30 years. On many days you could find him covered in drywall dust and his hands rough after a long day at work, but it was this work that provided for his family and inspired his youngest son, Dan, to take up the electrical trade. Peter actively volunteered at the Briarcliffe Father and Sons Athletic Association, where he coached baseball, cleaned fields, and helped create a roller hockey league for the neighborhood children. As the weather warmed, if you didn't find him with an electrical tool, or on a baseball field, you would find him standing surfside with a fishing rod in hand. He found solace and peace by the shoreline waiting for the perfect catch. His love for surf fishing is one that will live on through his grandsons. He is predeceased by his fiancé Judite Rosa and his parents Walter and Florence Gutowski. Above all, Peter was a loving father to Dan (Katie) Gutowski, Peter (Kelly) Gutowski and Christopher (Colleen) Gutowski, Judy's son Alex (Jocelyn) Cossu, a proud grandfather of Breanne, Justyne, Hailey, Conner, Aedan, Quinn and Grady, great grandfather of 4 great-grandchildren, and his dear brother Vincent Gutowski. His love and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
