James Cant, Jr. of Folcroft passed away on December 2, 2017. He was 93.

 

A proud WW II U.S. Navy Veteran, Jim served on the USS Augusta, where he fought in the Normandy Invasion and crossed the Arctic Circle. After the war, Jim enjoyed a 40-year career as a piano tuner and refinisher at John Wanamaker's in Philadelphia. Jim also tuned pianos at many prestigious musical venues and schools throughout the tri-state, and for many well-known musicians.  Jim was an avid golfer, and enjoyed riding his bike and playing chess. He loved visiting his hometown of Tenants Harbor, Maine, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

 

He is predeceased by his wife Rita D. Cant. He is survived by his loving children: Maggie (the late Phil) Carey; James (Daria) Cant III; Ricki (Richard) Biedrzycki; Stephen (Susan) Cant; and Bernadette (Thomas) Reiley. Cherished grandfather of Philip, Matthew, Lisa, Dana, Beth, Kate, Jimmy, Laura, Stephanie and Thomas; great-grandfather of Sofia, Arden, Vincent, Emma, Laelyn, Jack Carey, Justin, Merrin, Jack Shaw, and Ryder.

Funeral Mass: Thursday, December 7, 11AM at St Gabriel's Church, 233 Mohawk Ave. Norwood, PA 19074

Visitation: 10-11AM in the church

Burial: Private

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Schoolhouse Center, 600 Swarthmore Ave., Folsom, PA 19033, c/o Dir. Kim McDaniels
