Mary Ernst, age 67 of Mays Landing, formerly of Norwood passed away January 4, 2018. Mary was born and raised in Prospect Park. She was a graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School Class of 1968. For over 35 years, Mary was the longtime business owner of Gera Cafe and Matthews Tavern in Norwood. She loved her home by the beach, her family and especially her grandchildren. Mary enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a free spirited person that enjoyed driving her car and her dog Lucy. She is predeceased by her father Matthew Byrnes. She is survived by her loving children: Joe (Sue) Batchelor, Sandy (Joe) Bartholomew and Matthew (Ashley) Ernst; her dearest grandchildren: Joey, Corey, Matt and Nicole Batchelor and Joey, Eddie, Connor and Sandy Bartholomew and Avery, Sky and Zoey Ernst; her caring mother Sylvia Byrnes; siblings: Margarita (Paul) Bozack, Trudy (the late Dennis) Crowson, Matthew "Bill" (Maryanne) Byrnes Jr., Carolyn (Jay) Totman and James (Donna) Byrnes and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be 11 AM, Tuesday, January 9 at the McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home, 343 S. Chester Pike, Glenolden, PA 19036 Visitation is from 9 to 11 AM at the funeral home.
