Virginia (Lundquist) Mateu, age 75, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2018. Ginnie was under Hospice Care in Bryn Mawr Hospital. She was born on November 17, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA. and graduated from John Bartram High School in June, 1960. Following graduation, Ginnie married Anthony (Tony) Mateu. She enjoyed volunteering many hours at her children's elementary school helping students with their work. After raising her children, Ginnie worked part-time for 19 years as a receptionist for a local dentist. Ginnie loved to travel and, along with Tony, spent many winters in Ft. Myers, FL. They also visited Hawaii, Spain and all up and down the east and west coast. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved to cook, especially lasagna and potato salad. Her chocolate chip cake will be missed by many. Ginnie will be dearly missed by Tony, her husband of 57 years and her two sons, Rick (Barb) and Joe (Danielle). She is survived by one sister, Nancy Bott, sisters-in-law Rita Klineberger, Pauline Mateu and many nieces and nephews. She was especially fond of great-nieces and great-nephews, Kaitlyn, Ryan McKenna and Erin, Tommy Medrow. Ginnie was predeceased by brothers-in-law Joseph Bott, John and Charlie Mateu and sister-in-law Regina Carr. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the entire Bryn Mawr Hospital staff and Bryn Mawr Hospice for their compassion, care and kindness to Ginnie and her family during her final days.
