Joseph James Clark, age 86 of West Chester formerly of Glenolden, passed away on April 30, 2018. Born in Philadelphia, Joe was a graduate of West Catholic High School. He later attended Drexel Institute of Technology after serving 4 years in the United States Navy on the USS Taconic during the Korean War. He then went on to work at Archbishop Prendergast High School and the United States Post Office before beginning his career with Bell Telephone of PA as a switchman. After furthering his education, Joe managed a team of computer programmers for Verizon, where he worked until retiring. Joe dedicated much time and energy to the Glenolden Boys Club, where he coached various sports teams, led an initiative to include sports for girls, and served as Club President. He also officiated many swim meets at Glenolden Swim Club. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed playing in their golf league. Joseph served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. George's Catholic Church, and was part of the Holy Name Society. The most important things in his life were faith, family, friends, education, and sports. Being true to your values and working to make a difference were the principles by which he lived his life. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Kathleen "Kass" Clark, parents Leigh and Agnes Clark, siblings Agnes Clark, Margaret "Peggy" Hummel, and Leo "Bruz" Clark, and grandson Joseph Hager. Survivors: Loving father of Joseph P. Clark, Kathleen Hager, John "Jack" Clark, and Rosemary McNamara, grandfather of Joseph III, William, Michael, Kathryn, Ellen, Clark, John Patrick "JP", Andrew and Ryan, and brother of Anna Marie Moore. Funeral Mass: 10:30AM on Saturday at St. George's Catholic Church, Lamont Ave., Glenolden, PA 19036. Visitation: 9-10:15AM on Saturday at the church. Burial: SS.
