John W. (Jack) Garrity, 85,

General Electric Retiree, Korean War Veteran

Jack Garrity of Ridley Township went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 18, 2018.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a graduate of West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Boys. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War.

Jack resided first in Philadelphia and then in Delaware County. His career with General Electric in Philadelphia spanned more than 35 years, and as part of the management team he earned the respect of his coworkers. It was at General Electric that Jack met Bea, fell in love with her, got married, and began their family.

Jack viewed his life as one whose purpose was to be a good and faithful servant, and was actively involved in every church he attended. His service included Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, deacon, elder, and his life's passion, a music ministry. He sang in several choirs, was often a soloist at church services and weddings, and was a member of several quartets. Jack faithfully spent much of his time praying for others, whether he knew them or not. He was a true prayer warrior.
