Obituary of Laurence J. McKeon

Honorable Laurence J. McKeon Sr. "Larry" age 71 of Springfield, formerly of Collingdale passed away on January 16, 2019 surrounded by his family and friends. Larry was a graduate of the class of 1965 from St. James High School. He then went on to West Chester University and Widener University where he received his master's degree in Education. In 1999, Larry retired from Interboro High School where he had taught English for 30 years. After retirement, he completed certification training from the Minor Judiciary Education Board and was elected to three terms as the Magisterial District Judge for the Borough of Collingdale from 2000 to 2013 and then served as Senior Judge in Delaware County. As a lifetime member of Collingdale Fire Company #1, Larry served many positions including Emergency Medical Technician and Treasurer. He was a very proud member of the St. James Alumni Association. He enjoyed singing in both the St. James Alumni Choir and Kelly Street Chorus of Philadelphia. Larry enjoyed vacationing at River Beach, NJ with his family, and golf trips with friends and family to Myrtle Beach where he was known to play practical jokes on all who attended. He will be dearly missed. He is predeceased by his parents Francis and Anne McKeon and his brother-in-law Harry "Chibby" Kaut. Survivors: Beloved husband of 49 years to Maureen McKeon, loving father of Larry(Dori) McKeon Jr., Danny(Jill) McKeon and Andy(Shelly) McKeon, cherished grandfather of Codie, Justin, Ashley, Matthew, Kiera, Patrick, and Ryan, dear brother of Frank(Diane)McKeon, Patti(Jack) Dugan, Maryellen Stewart and John (Lee) McKeon and brother-in-law of Barbara Kaut and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass: 11am Tuesday at St Joseph's Church, 500 Woodlawn Ave, Collingdale PA. 19023. Viewing: 6-8pm Monday and 10-11am Tuesday both are held at the church. Burial: SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
