“Vitae Summa Brevis”
They are not long, the weeping and the laughter,
Love and desire and hate:
I think they have no portion in us after
We pass the gate.
They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
Within a dream.

Dominic began working at the Philadelphia Center City Gershman YMHA around 1988. Initially hired as a carpentry/maintenance assistant for the Y’s Athletic Director, David Brier (upon the recommendation of Steve Batory), Dom eventually became Head of the Maintenance Department.
One of my favorite memories is of Dominic and David
creating, designing and building wooden steppers for the Y’s fitness classes to stay competing with the Y’s surrounding fitness gyms!
Dominic was a popular, well respected co-worker and a very kind, considerate, Italian gentleman. He was so devoted and loving to his wife, Rita, children, family and friends. His heart and soul was as expansive as his large family.
Dominic’s family and friends have been blessed to have shared so many years with him, and now with his memory of how to live a life of loving devotion.
RIP Dom. We love you. David Brier and Margaret Bernardi

Uncle Dom was a wonderful, loving, caring man. We are so very blessed to have had him in our lives.
I will always remember the New Year’s Eve parties he and Aunt Rita hosted for many years and staying overnight. What a treat and so much fun!! The impromptu visits he made at my mother’s house on his way from work always brightened Mom and us kids’ day. Bob and I will cherish our many conversations at countless family gatherings and phone calls through the years. Uncle Dom had much knowledge and wisdom he loved to share with us.
We pray for Aunt Rita, Linda, Ann Marie, Diane and his entire family for strength and peace at this very difficult time. We love you all.

There are so many words to describe Uncle Dom, but loving and genuine are the ones I immediately thought of. Whenever you saw him, he'd say your name in a heartwarming way and a twinkle in his eyes. He'd ask genuinely, how you were, and how life was treating you. I'll miss him so very much.
I am glad he'll be with my husband, Anthony. Always felt that he considered Ant to be like a son to him. Now they can talk about scrappels and Easter bread in heaven. God rest your soul, Uncle Dom. I love you.
